Who knows what happens next? (Yes? You, at the back of the room.)
Well, "limbo" isn't quite the word to describe where things are. "Huh???" is now the more operative term, but not in a negative way. More of in a "that's amazing, but what just happened?!" kind of way.
A long-time dream of mine recently came true... My latest 2 albums have been submitted and added to rotation on Echoes (www.echoes.org), which in my opinion is the best New Age/Ambient radio show there is, period. It is featured on over 130+ radio stations nationwide, and can be listened to online for a modest subscription fee. I can't even tell you what it's been like hearing "Persephone" alongside the latest works of Eric Tingstad, Loreena McKennit, & BT, among others.
My old friend Joe Moore and I continue to write music I'm extremely proud of; it's a far cry from our humble beginnings. It's not ready to be shared yet, and we're still looking for more members to contribute to this experiment.
In my mind's eye I have an idea as to who I would love to take part in this... and after a wonderful jam session with Joe and probably a few too many glasses of wine, I emailed two of the people who I feel could add so very much. Both are old bandmates of ours from the RCF days (www.myspace.com/righteouscornfarmers). Kelly, the coolest bassist I've ever met, was wonderful enough to respond quickly while on vacation in Europe, just to let me know that he'd be interested in bringing his Bass when he visits here this summer... that's amazing news in itself.
I then tried to contact Jerry, the vocalist and lyricist extraordinaire from RCF and The Fine Print (and has gone to fame with his webcomic Penny Arcade: www.penny-arcade.com), but, unsurprisingly, there's been no reply.
Let me explain: we are not trying to rehash RCF or TFP, but Joe and I were fortunate to be surrounded by these talented people in the first place, and even though this is a completely new project, we feel that these people could enhance this like few others could. No matter what happens, I'm having a great time...
In solo news, my new album is s l o w l y coming along, but I'm madly in love with every song that's going to appear on the cd. I love where I'm being lead to musically, and I wouldn't have it any other way. If it means this album's going to take a bit longer than the others, so be it!
On a final note: Due to the current state of affairs in our lives, Heather and I have decided to remain in Spokane for a while longer. We're actually looking at buying a home in the area, and we can actually afford one here. Those crazy cats in Seattle I think are selling organs on the black market to pay their mortgage! Well, that's what they say on the street...
